ADSL INSTRUCTIONS
IntroductionADSL provides high-speed, alway-on internet connectivity over normal phone lines. With microfilters correctly installed, this doesn't affect the phone line's voice functionality.Configuration details
Hardware to useIf you have chosen an engineer installed service, an appropriate device will be provided. If you are on a 'wires only' service you will need to buy your own hardware. There are two main options:
USB ADSL Modem
ADSL Router
ADSL Routers tend to be more expensive than ADSL modems. Connecting to the Phone LineThe modem or router connects to the phone line just like any similar device. However, when ADSL is in use, every other device on that line needs to have a microfilter installed for normal voice operation. Most ADSL devices come with a single microfilter, and it's usual practice to ensure all voice devices are wired through this. Configuration InstructionsADSL Router | ||||||||||||||||||||||
